Job description

Primary Purpose

To serve as GSSO through pre-construction, post-construction, and serviceability phase of the 2000sq ft/2-story 1FW TRSS-F F-22 simulator. Providing security support during construction/certification and GSSO support with a facility housing a SAPF and SCIF.

Qualifications

In order to qualify, you must meet the specialized experience requirements described in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards for General Schedule Positions, Administrative and Management Positions.

Specialized Experience
  • Applicants must have at least one (1) year of specialized experience at the next lower grade GS-11, or equivalent in other pay systems.
  • Examples of specialized experience includes applying Broad and comprehensive knowledge of security concepts, Executive Orders, Department of Defense (DoD) Directives, regulations, and manuals governing Information, Physical, Personnel and Industrial Security Programs.
  • Knowledge of organization's unique mission requirements to multiple federal agencies, joint services, state and local governments, to develop, define and direct required security principles and practices.
Federal Time-in-Grade Requirement
  • Merit promotion applicants must meet applicable time-in-grade requirements to be considered eligible.
  • One year at the GS-11 level is required to meet the time-in-grade requirements for the GS-12 level.
  • TIG applies if you are in a current GS position or held a GS position within the previous 52 weeks.
  • NOTE: Applicants applying as VEOA candidates who are current GS civil service employees or are prior GS civil service employees within the past 52 weeks must also meet time-in-grade requirements.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities (KSAs)
  • Knowledge of a wide range of security concepts, principles, and practices to review, independently analyze, and resolve difficult and complex security problems; apply policy direction to contractors and government/military officials, and develop guidance for applying security policy, procedures, techniques, equipment, and methods to a variety of work situations and various levels or degrees of security controls.
  • Knowledge of a broad range of security program relationships, and proficiency in information, personnel, and industrial security to effectively implement and administer applicable security programs and/or coordinate with other specialized security programs.
  • Knowledge of security classification methods, concepts, and eligibility for access to classified or sensitive information to review plans for proposed or new projects, organizations, and/or missions to assure the presence of adequate planning for information security and other controls.
  • Knowledge of required Security Special Access program (SAP) and sensitive compartmented information (SCI) security procedures.
  • Skill in planning, developing, analyzing, and evaluating security programs to meet mission requirements and improve the security program.
  • Ability to plan, organize work, and meet deadlines and ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
Other Significant Facts Pertaining to This Position
  1. The employee is required to obtain and maintain a Top-Secret clearance with access to SCI and SAPs.
  2. The employee may be required to travel in military and/or commercial aircraft to perform temporary duty assignments.
  3. Employee may be required to take a random counter-intelligence polygraph and submit to background checks as a condition of employment and/or continued access to the SAP.
  4. This position has been identified as a designated position under the Air Force Drug Testing Plan. Incumbent(s) of this position is subject to the possibility of a random drug test.
  5. This position is a designated national security position.
  6. Department of Defense Security Fundamentals Professional Certification (SFPC) and Security Asset Protection Professional Certification (SAPPC) conferrals are required within 2 years of the established employee EOD or initial assignment date to this position in accordance with DOD 3305.13-M, DoD Security Accreditation and Certification and AFI 36-2645, Security Professional Certification and Development. The listed certification requirements may not be deleted or modified without the written approval of the AF Security Functional Authority (SAF/AA) or their delegated security career field representative.
