As a Security Specialist 1, you play a key role in managing the administrative operations of our security programs. By maintaining accurate records and assisting with routine compliance tasks, you support seamless and compliant security processes that enable the team’s success. This is a client-facing role, where you will support a set number of clients and work directly with their employees to ensure security program effectiveness and compliance.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Administrative Security Data Management
  2. Maintain accurate personnel records, clearance statuses, and essential security information within key databases (DISS, NBIS, NISS).
  3. Support new hire onboarding by conducting initial briefings, ensuring clearance investigation initiation, and enrolling personnel in Continuous Evaluation (CE) programs.
  4. Process and submit visit requests via DISS and handle related administrative tasks, ensuring authorized access and up-to-date records.
  5. Manage access/indoctrination and debriefing processes for personnel, ensuring compliance with onboarding and separation procedures.
  6. Coordinate and track annual refresher training and follow up on any missing documentation to maintain compliance with security standards.
  7. Organize and launch the annual training kickoff each year, ensuring that all personnel are briefed on updated security practices and compliance requirements.
  8. Manage foreign travel reports and debrief submissions in government systems like DISS, ensuring records are accurately maintained in our proprietary software to support seamless security operations.
  9. Compliance Support & Document Control
  10. Support in the preparation and organization of security documentation for audits, ensuring records are up to date, accessible, and aligned with compliance standards.
  11. Assist with routine inquiries regarding personnel security data, updating records as directed by the AFSO team.
  12. Track compliance actions and PSI projections (annually in March) to support the security team’s compliance requirements.
  13. Serve as backup for AFSO staff during absences, managing incident report notifications.

*This role requires meticulous attention to detail, strong organizational skills, and the ability to handle sensitive information with discretion.

Qualifications:
  1. As part of your work at ISI, you will potentially have access to sensitive information from the federal government. Pursuant to applicable regulations, ISI requires that all candidates for this role present proof of U.S. citizenship before hire
  2. Minimum of Top-Secret government security clearance or eligibility for government security clearance. Applicants without required clearance, if selected, will be subject to a government security investigation for Interim Secret Clearance.
  3. Minimum of a High School Diploma or General Educational Development (GED).
  4. Ability to quickly understand policies and procedures presented during on-the-job training.
  5. 1+ year administrative experience, preferably within a security-focused or customer-based environment.
  6. Exceptional interpersonal and customer service skills, friendly and professional demeanor.
  7. Effective time management.
  8. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
Required Training:
  • Must complete the following Center for Development of Security Excellence (CDSE) Security Training, Education and Professionalization Portal (STEPP) courses within 6 months of your start date, unless otherwise identified:
  • FSO Program Management for Possessing Facilities curriculum
  • Establishing an Insider Threat Program training
  • Insider Threat Awareness training
  • Insider Threat Mitigation Responses
  • Counterintelligence Awareness and Security Brief
  • Insider Threat Privacy and Civil Liberties
  • Developing a Multidisciplinary Insider Threat Capability
  • Identified and Udemy Training
  • CUI Training; required to complete by first day
  • Personally Identifiable Information (PII) training; required to complete by first day
  • Cyber Awareness training; required to complete by first day
