Job description

About the Position: Performs duties as a Security Specialist supporting the security programs at a multi-purpose U.S. Army Corps of Engineers navigation division support industrial facility recognized as part of the nation's critical infrastructure. Also supports the security program of two remote survey field facilities, two ocean-going dredge vessels, survey vessel fleet, and multiple real property sites.

Minimum Qualifications GS-09: Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-09 grade level in the Federal service such as

  • 1.) Assisting with physical security, personnel security, or industrial security programs.
  • 2.) Conducting basic vulnerability or risk assessments of facilities, perimeters, or access points.
  • 3.) Operating physical access control systems, badging workstations, or maintaining security databases under general supervision.
  • 4.)Assisting in the delivery of security awareness, education, or training programs.s.
  • This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the second lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-07).
  • OR Education: Master's or equivalent graduate degree or 2 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position, such as: Homeland Security, Security & Intelligence Studies, or Criminal Justice (Security Administration).
  • OR Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) beyond the first year (total graduate semester hours minus 18) by 18. Add the two percentages.

Minimum Qualifications GS-11: Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience I have one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-09 grade level in the Federal service such as

  • 3.) Conducting formal vulnerability assessments, physical security surveys, and inspections to identify deficiencies and develop corrective action plans.
  • 4.) Serving as a liaison with local, state, or federal law enforcement agencies and internal protection working groups.
  • This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the second lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-09).
