Additional Information About the Role

BJC is hiring for a Security Software Configuration II Engineer. This is a remote position, primarily for MO or IL residents.

We seek a security-minded individual capable of innovative thinking. The engineering team develops tools for protection and investigations used by SIRT, TVM, and GRC teams. A Level 1 team supports daily operations for the L2 Engineering team, educates on best practices, and ensures secure configurations. The team manages multiple projects, problem-solves across systems, and advises on security matters. Broad IT experience is preferred; no specific certifications are required for this role.

Role Purpose

The Security Software Configuration - Engineer II is responsible for designing, deploying, and managing a secure application infrastructure aligned with business needs. The role involves operational innovation, security guidance, and application resilience, requiring strong administrative, troubleshooting, and architectural skills. Certifications like Epic or similar are expected within 6 months of hire.

Responsibilities

1. Participate in security projects, evaluate infrastructure, and implement improvements as directed. Support incident response and system stability, including outside regular hours. Ensure compliance with laws like HIPAA, GLBA, PCI, SOX. Conduct performance testing to ensure security without disrupting business processes.
2. Perform vulnerability assessments, analyze business impact, and design mitigation strategies. Investigate security incidents, support incident management, and document findings.
3. Specify assessment requirements, review test results, and prepare reports. Use deception techniques to enhance security measures.
4. Handle incidents following established procedures, diagnose causes, escalate unresolved issues, and document resolutions. Participate in after-hours on-call rotations if required.
