Qualifications

Responsibilities

GENERAL SUMMARY:

Oversees and leads the activities of the hospital security officers on Bryan East and West campuses, to include oversight of hospital security operations, day to day supervision and on-the job training of hospital security officers, and ensuring full coverage of posts within their assigned shift. This role will identify and report incidents, lead and monitor performance of hospital security officers in a friendly and professional manner, and ensure the safety of patients, visitors, staff, and providers.

• Provide day to day supervision of hospital security officers on assigned shift. Collaborates with the Security Supervisor on matters of performance management of the Security Officers.


• Assist in the training of hospital security officers and review procedures.


• Observe and remain vigilant for signs of crime, disorder, hazard, and unusual activity.


• Responds to all calls for a variety of services to include but not limited to: escorts, property pickup, disturbances, and security/medical assist calls.


• Patrol on foot or via a vehicle to check for unsafe conditions, blocked entryways, security violations, mechanical problems, and unauthorized individuals.


• Verbally and physically de-escalating individuals, as needed; direct persons causing a disturbance to exit the property in a calm and respectful manner.


• Inspect all security devices and fire control equipment.


• Screen patients, visitors, staff, and providers to expedite their admittance to the facility (to include weapons detection screening and HID Safe Visitation software).


• Respond to incidents of fire, medical emergency, bomb threat, flooding, water discharge, elevator emergency, hazardous materials, or inclement weather with calm urgency.


• Prepare logs and investigative reports, as required, by writing, typing, or entering accurate information that can be easily interpreted by fellow officers, supervisors, and leaders.


• Identify, educate, manage, and report security risks impacting service delivery.


• Assists with vehicle jump starts and tire inflation, vehicle wayfinding, and initial accident investigation.


• Assist with helicopter arrival and departure, including preparation of the landing pad and escort of personnel.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

High school diploma or equivalent required. One (1) year of experience working in a healthcare or other related security setting required. Leadership or lead experience preferred. Completion of Management of Assaultive Behaviors training within six (6) months of hire.
