Job summary

Commonwealth of Virginia - Baskerville Correctional Center seeks a Security Manager II to oversee daily security operations and staff at Baskerville Correctional Center. The role directs a shift, schedules personnel, and enforces policy to maintain a secure environment.

Required are DCJS certification, a high school diploma or equivalent, and progressive corrections security experience. A valid operator’s license and strong written/verbal communication skills are essential.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent is required.
• DCJS Certification is required.
• Operator’s License is required.
• Progressive security experience within the Virginia Department of Corrections is expected.
• Experience supervising corrections staff is expected.
• Experience planning, scheduling, and/or organizing work for others is required.
• Knowledge of security and/or administrative practices and procedures is required.
• Ability to follow oral and written instructions and operate firearms and comms equipment.

Responsibilities

• Direct daily activities of security supervisors and staff as shift commander.
• Coordinate and review work to ensure safe, secure, and productive operations.
• Lead, develop, and counsel staff; manage schedules and duty rosters.
