Job summary

Socket.dev is seeking an experienced Security Manager to lead our security operations in a high-stakes environment. You will guide a team of supervisors and officers, ensure safety of residents, staff and property, and own security processes end-to-end.

The role demands strong leadership, hands-on IT and security system knowledge, and the ability to make quick, principled decisions. This is a full-time position based in Jacksonville, FL.

Qualifications

• Proven experience in security leadership or management.
• Ability to solve problems independently and lead through ambiguity.
• Strong understanding of security systems, access control, alarms, and monitoring.
• Working knowledge of payroll, labor management, and accounts payable.
• Basic IT troubleshooting skills (hardware, software, access systems).
• Excellent organizational, documentation, and follow-through skills.
• Required security license(s) and ability to maintain them.

Responsibilities

• Lead, mentor security supervisors and officers; set professionalism and service.
• Build schedules, oversee timekeeping, approve payroll, manage labor costs.
• Address performance issues promptly and coach for growth.
• Serve as primary escalation during incidents or emergencies.
• Review, approve, reconcile accounts payable invoices for security services.
• Manage contracts and vendor relationships for security systems.
• Develop and enforce security policies, SOPs, and post orders.
• Conduct audits, drills, and incident reviews.
• Produce incident reports, metrics, and executive summaries.
• On-scene leader until relieved by emergency responders.
• Independently assess situations, identify root causes, and implement solutions.
• Make sound judgments under pressure and adjust plans as conditions change.
• Anticipate risks and proactively improve security processes.
• Understand and troubleshoot security equipment: access control, alarms, CCTV.
• Coordinate installations, repairs, upgrades; verify work quality.
• Maintain system documentation and access permissions.
• Provide basic IT support to security team.
• Work with IT or vendors on escalated technical issues.
• Lead preparedness for elopement prevention, fire safety, hurricanes, active shooter, trespass; drills and reviews.
