About this role
OpenTrain is recruiting for a Security Onion Cybersecurity AI Training Specialist to complete practical security monitoring and threat investigation workflows that help train AI systems. You will work with alerts, network traffic, logs, and related security data, then turn your technical process into clear demonstrations, prompts, rubrics, and quality evaluations. This remote contractor role pays an advertised rate of $90-$175 per hour.
What you will do
You will complete assigned workflows and tasks in Security Onion using practical cybersecurity experience. The work includes navigating network monitoring, alert investigation, log analysis, threat detection, and incident response features; analyzing security alerts, network traffic, logs, and related security data; and recording your screen while demonstrating workflow steps and investigation techniques. You will also create realistic prompts and detailed rubrics, document the tools, features, and reasoning used during investigations, and review task outputs for accuracy and alignment with quality standards.
Required skills
You should have strong hands-on experience using Security Onion for security monitoring, threat detection, or incident investigation, as well as current independent access to Security Onion. Clear, concise technical communication, strong attention to detail, and the ability to explain technical workflows are essential. You should be comfortable recording and sharing your screen while demonstrating your work and able to work independently in a remote contractor engagement. Prior human data experience, including annotation, labeling, AI response evaluation, or model evaluation, is helpful. Prior AI experience is not required.
