Job summary

MSC Security is seeking an unarmed Security Officer for a part-time, weekend role in Silver Spring, MD. The position involves foot patrols, log maintenance, incident reporting, and enforcing rules at the site. Valid MD MSP Guard Card and driver’s license are required, along with the ability to pass a background check and drug screen.

Shifts are Saturdays and Sundays from 1:00 PM to 9:00 PM with public-facing duties and a strong emphasis on safety, professionalism, and effective communication.

Qualifications

• Minimum age 18.
• Legal work status in the US.
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Ability to pass a drug screening.
• Reliable and functional transportation (Public transportation is not acceptable).
• Ownership of a cell phone for contact by Operations Supervisors.
• Ability to pass a criminal background check with no felony arrests or convictions.
• A current MSP Guard Card.
• Ability to perform duties as stated in post orders, which may include standing/walking for extended periods or lifting.
• Familiarity with mobile technology (tablets, smartphones, etc.).
• Possession of a valid full driver’s license (public transportation is not acceptable).

Responsibilities

• Maintain a daily log of all activities during your assigned shift at your post.
• Document all incidents occurring during your shift in a detailed incident report.
• Conduct walking/vehicular patrols throughout your shift.
• Enforce customer rules in a professional and courteous manner.
• Arrive on time and in proper uniform at your assigned post.
• Interact and communicate with the public.
• Demonstrate effective oral and written communication skills.
• Assess and respond to emergencies quickly and appropriately.
