Job summary

MSC Security is seeking a part-time, unarmed Security Officer in Lanham, MD. The position pays $17.00 per hour and runs 16 hours a week on Monday and Tuesday from 10:30 AM to 6:30 PM, starting Nov 1, 2026.

Duties include patrols, daily activity logs, incident reports, enforcing rules, and customer service at a shopping center. Applicants must have MD Guard Card, be 18+, pass drug and background checks, possess a HS diploma or GED, and have reliable transportation and a valid Maryland driver’s

• Current MD State Police Guard Card (active)
• Minimum age 18
• Legal US work status
• High school diploma or equivalent
• Ability to pass a drug screen
• Reliable transportation (no public transport)
• Cell phone for contact by Operations
• Criminal background check with no felony arrests/convictions
• Ability to perform duties including standing/walking and lifting
• Familiarity with mobile technology (cell phones, laptops)

CURRENT MARYLAND STATE POLICE GUARD CARD IS REQUIRED

REQUIREMENTS:

• Reliable and functional transportation (Public transportation is not acceptable)
• Ownership of a cell phone for contact by Operations Supervisors
• Ability to pass a criminal background check with no felony arrests or convictions
• Ability to perform duties as stated in post orders, which may include standing/walking for extended periods or lifting
• Familiarity with mobile technology (Cell phones, laptops)

DUTIES/WHAT WE LOOK FOR:

• Maintain a daily log of all activities during your assigned shift at your assigned post
• Document all incidents occurring during your assigned shift in a detailed incident report
• Conduct walking/vehicular patrols throughout your shift
• Enforce customer rules in a professional and courteous manner
• Arrive on time and in proper uniform at your assigned post
• Ability to interact and communicate with the public
• Effective oral and written communication skills
• Ability to assess and evaluate emergencies effectively
• Ability to quickly and accurately identify critical issues and respond appropriately
