Job summary

Allied Universal in San Jose, CA is seeking a Part-Time Security Officer (Unarmed) to patrol a retail mall location, support access control, and provide exceptional customer service to visitors, tenants, and staff.

You will carry out security procedures, respond to incidents, and maintain a visible presence to deter security-related issues while representing Allied Universal’s values.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent is required.
• Guard card or license is preferred.
• Background check and drug screen required by law.
• Minimum age 18 for unarmed roles; 21+ for armed roles.
• Ability to lift up to 20 pounds.

Responsibilities

• Provide customer service to visitors, tenants, and employees by following site procedures.
• Respond to incidents calmly and report to appropriate personnel.
• Conduct regular and random patrols of retail areas, parking facilities, entrances, and perimeter.
• Assist with access control, visitor directions, and traffic flow during operations and events.
• Document observations and incidents as required by site procedures.

As a Patrol Unarmed Officer at a retail mall location, you will monitor and patrol assigned areas, maintain a visible presence to help deter security-related incidents, and provide exceptional customer service to visitors, tenants, and staff. You will support access control activities and communicate professionally while representing Allied Universal’s agile, reliable, innovative, caring, and integrity-driven culture.

Position Type: Part Time

Pay Rate: $22.25 / Hour

Job Schedule:

• Fri 04:00 PM - 12:30 AM


• Sat 04:00 PM - 12:30 AM


• Sun 04:00 PM - 12:30 AM

What You’ll Do:

• Provide customer service to visitors, tenants, and/or employees by carrying out security-related procedures, site-specific policies, and when appropriate, emergency response activities.


• Respond to incidents, customer concerns, and critical situations in a calm, problem-solving manner, notifying appropriate personnel as needed.


• Conduct regular and random patrols of retail common areas, parking facilities, entrances, and perimeter areas to help identify and report unusual activity or hazards.


• Assist with access control, visitor directions, and traffic flow during normal operations, special events, and high-traffic periods.


• Document observations, incidents, and patrol activities in accordance with site-specific procedures.

Minimum Requirements:

• Comfortable using a computer or tablet is preferred.


• Access control and badge experience is preferred.


• Customer service experience is preferred.


• Possession of a guard card or license is preferred.


• Ability to lift up to 20 pounds is preferred.


• Be at least 18 years of age for unarmed roles; 21+ years of age for armed roles.


• Possess a high school diploma or equivalent.


• As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a background investigation in accordance with all federal, state, and local laws.


• Allied Universal will consider qualified applications with criminal histories in a manner consistent with applicable laws.


• As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a drug screen to the extent permitted by law.


• Licensing requirements are subject to state and/or local laws and regulations and may be required prior to employment.


• A valid driver’s license will be required for driving positions only.
