Allied Universal, the leading security and facility services provider in North America, seeks a Part-Time Security Officer - Access Control in Harrisonburg, VA. You will safeguard clients across logistics and distribution sites, manage access points, and perform patrols while maintaining professional communications with staff and partners.

This role offers a flexible weekend schedule (Sat/Sun) with a $19/hour pay rate.

Qualifications

• Guard card or license preferred.
• Be at least 18 years old for unarmed roles; 21+ for armed roles.
• Background check required under applicable laws.
• Drug screen required where permitted by law.
• Licensing may be required by state/local laws.

Responsibilities

• Provide customer service to clients, visitors, drivers, and employees by carrying out security-related procedures, site-specific policies, and emergency response activities when appropriate.
• Monitor access control points, verify credentials and authorization, maintain visitor/driver records, and direct authorized personnel.
• Observe and report access-control irregularities, delivery/shipment concerns, and other security-related incidents calmly.
• Conduct regular and random patrols of designated areas including entrances, loading docks, parking areas, and perimeter.
• Communicate professionally with site personnel, transportation partners, and emergency responders, and document activities and incidents.

What You'll Do:

• Provide customer service to clients, visitors, drivers, and employees by carrying out security-related procedures, site-specific policies, and emergency response activities when appropriate.
• Monitor access control points for a logistics and distribution location, verify credentials and authorization, maintain visitor and driver entry records, and direct authorized personnel to appropriate areas.
• Observe and report access-control irregularities, delivery and shipment-related concerns, and other security-related incidents in a calm, problem-solving manner.
• Conduct regular and random patrols of designated areas, including entrances, loading docks, parking areas, and the perimeter, to help deter unauthorized activity.
• Communicate professionally with site personnel, transportation partners, and emergency responders, and complete accurate activity, incident, and access-control documentation.

Minimum Requirements:

• A Guard Card or license is preferred.
• Be at least 18 years of age for unarmed roles; 21+ years of age for armed roles.
• Possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
• As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a background investigation in accordance with all federal, state, and local laws.
• Allied Universal will consider qualified applications with criminal histories in a manner consistent with applicable laws.
• As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a drug screen to the extent permitted by law.
• Licensing requirements are subject to state and/or local laws and regulations and may be required prior to employment.
• A valid driver’s license will be required for driving positions only.
