Job summary

Allied Universal is seeking a Part-Time Security Officer in Norfolk, VA to patrol government maritime facilities and deter security incidents. You will provide customer service, monitor access points, and report any hazards. The schedule includes night shifts with Thur and Fri duties, 9:30 PM to 5:30 AM, on-site.

• Possess a TSA-issued TWIC.
• A guard card or license is preferred.
• Be at least 18 years of age for unarmed roles; 21+ years of age for armed roles.
• Possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
• As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a background investigation in accordance with all federal, state, and local laws.
• Allied Universal will consider qualified applications with criminal histories in a manner consistent with applicable laws.
• As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a drug screen to the extent permitted by law.
• Licensing requirements are subject to state and/or local laws and regulations and may be required prior to employment.
• A valid driver’s license will be required for driving positions only.

Responsibilities

• Provide customer service to employees, visitors, contractors, and/or members of the public by carrying out site-specific procedures, access-control protocols, and emergency response activities at a government maritime transportation location.
• Conduct regular and random unarmed patrols of terminals, buildings, parking areas, waterfront perimeters, gates, and other assigned areas; report unusual conditions, hazards, and maintenance concerns.
• Monitor access points and verify credentials, visitor authorizations, and vehicle permissions in accordance with site policies and applicable port procedures.
• Respond to incidents, alarms, medical situations, and critical events in a calm, problem-solving manner; notify appropriate personnel and document activities as required.
• Maintain accurate daily activity reports, incident reports, and patrol logs while providing a professional presence that helps to deter unauthorized activity.
