Job summary

Allied Universal is seeking an Unarmed Security Officer in Roanoke, VA. You will monitor assigned areas, patrol facilities, and support access control while delivering exceptional customer service.

Position is full-time with a pay rate of $15.85 per hour. Responsibilities include incident response, credential verification, and maintaining logs. Candidates must meet minimum requirements and be 18+ with a high school diploma.

Qualifications

• Alarm panel experience preferred.
• Customer service experience preferred.
• Guard card/license preferred.
• Access control and badge experience preferred.
• Comfort using a computer or tablet preferred.
• Must be 18+ for unarmed roles; 21+ for armed roles.
• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Background check conducted as per laws.
• Drug screen required where permitted by law.
• Licensing requirements may apply by state/local laws.

Responsibilities

• Provide customer service by following site procedures and access-control requirements.
• Respond to incidents, alarms, and emergencies with calm, clear communication.
• Conduct regular unarmed patrols of facilities and perimeter areas to deter unauthorized activity.
• Monitor access points, verify credentials, and maintain security logs and reports.
• Observe and report unusual conditions or violations to site contacts and leadership.

• Mon: 08:00 AM - 04:00 PM
• Tue: 08:00 AM - 04:00 PM
• Wed: 08:00 AM - 04:00 PM
• Thur: 08:00 AM - 04:00 PM
• Fri: 08:00 AM - 04:00 PM

What You’ll Do:

• Provide customer service by carrying out site-specific procedures, access-control requirements, and emergency response activities as appropriate.
• Respond to incidents, alarms, and critical situations in a calm, problem-solving manner, notifying designated personnel and emergency services as directed.
• Conduct regular and random unarmed patrols of utility facilities, buildings, equipment areas, parking locations, and perimeter boundaries to help deter unauthorized activity.
• Monitor access points and visitor activity, verify credentials as directed, and maintain accurate security-related logs and incident reports.
• Observe and report unusual conditions, infrastructure concerns, and policy violations to site contacts and Allied Universal leadership.

Minimum Requirements:

• Alarm panel experience is preferred.
• Customer service experience is preferred.
• A guard card or license is preferred.
• Access control and badge experience is preferred.
• Comfort using a computer or tablet is preferred.
• Be at least 18 years of age for unarmed roles; 21+ years of age for armed roles.
• Possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
• As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a background investigation in accordance with all federal, state, and local laws.
• Allied Universal will consider qualified applications with criminal histories in a manner consistent with applicable laws.
• As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a drug screen to the extent permitted by law.
• Licensing requirements are subject to state and/or local laws and regulations and may be required prior to employment.
• A valid driver’s license will be required for driving positions only.
