Summary Statement

A class incumbent is responsible for supervising the work of subordinate security officers and security personnel at small to medium size state institutions.

Essential Functions

• Plans, assigns, coordinates, reviews and evaluates the work of security staff.
• Attends institutional staff meetings and participates in or conducts seminars/conferences related to institutional security and safety.
• Makes recommendations on disciplinary measures for violators.
• Investigates reports of violations of regulations and advises superiors of the results.
• Periodically reviews security procedures to ensure their adequacy and relevance.
• Maintains logs, records, and reports related to security.
• Conducts inspections of personnel and facilities to ensure policy compliance.
• May confiscate contraband and notify authorities.

Job Requirements

Applicants must demonstrate competence in the following areas:

• Six months experience in security services.
• Six months experience applying laws, rules, and regulations.
• Six months experience in report writing.
• Knowledge of staff supervision through coursework, training, or experience.
• Possession of a valid Driver’s License.
