Job summary

The Obama Foundation is seeking an on-site Security Officer for the Obama Presidential Center in Chicago. The role ensures the safety of guests, staff, and property, with assigned patrol areas and a uniform provided.

You will report to a Security Supervisor and support emergency responses while maintaining a welcoming environment for visitors. Responsibilities include high-visibility patrols, enforcing policies, monitoring security systems, and coordinating with law enforcement.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• 1–2 years of security, law enforcement, or military experience preferred.
• CPR/First Aid/AED certification preferred or required within 60 days of hire.
• Experience with security monitoring systems and incident reporting is a plus.
• Strong observation and problem-solving abilities are essential.

Responsibilities

• Maintain high visibility and a welcoming, safe presence around the Center.
• Monitor behavior, address suspicious activities, and enforce security policies.
• Operate security systems and ensure alarms/cameras are functional.
• Screen guests, manage access points, and provide directions as needed.
• Respond to emergencies and coordinate with local law enforcement and emergency services.
• Protect artifacts and exhibits from damage or theft.
