Job summary

The Obama Presidential Center requires a Security Officer to safeguard guests, staff, and property. You will patrol designated areas, respond to concerns, and maintain a welcoming but secure environment under the supervision of a Security Supervisor.

Qualifications include a high school diploma or GED and 1–2 years of security or related experience; CPR/First Aid/AED certification is preferred or required within 60 days. This is an in-person role in Chicago’s Jackson Park area.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• 1–2 years security, law enforcement, or military experience preferred.
• CPR/First Aid/AED certification preferred or required within 60 days.
• Experience with security monitoring systems and incident reporting.
• Ability to interact with the public in a direct-facing role.

Responsibilities

• Maintain high visibility around the Center, providing a welcoming presence.
• Monitor visitors and staff for safety, enforce security policies, and guide emergency procedures.
• Monitor and patrol premises; ensure security systems are operational.
• Greet visitors and manage access points; screen guests per security protocols.
• Implement emergency response protocols when necessary.
• Coordinate with local law enforcement and emergency services.
• Protect artifacts and exhibits from damage or theft; enforce exhibit policies.
• Report incidents and maintain detailed security records.
