Job summary

The Obama Foundation is seeking a Security Officer for the Obama Presidential Center in Chicago. The role focuses on safeguarding guests, staff, and property, patrolling assigned areas, directing during emergencies, and maintaining a welcoming but secure campus environment.

Reporting to a Security Supervisor, you will work closely with Visitor Experience staff, monitor cameras, enforce security policies, manage access points, and participate in drills and incident reporting to support a safe,

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• 1–2 years security, law enforcement, or military experience preferred.
• Valid state Security Guard License preferred.
• CPR/First Aid/AED certification preferred or required within 60 days.
• Experience with security monitoring systems and incident reporting is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Maintain high visibility and a welcoming presence around the Center.
• Monitor behavior, address suspicious activity, and enforce security policies and procedures.
• Manage access points and ensure only authorized personnel enter restricted areas.
• Provide guidance on safety protocols and emergency procedures.
• Respond to emergencies and coordinate with local law enforcement as needed.
• Operate security cameras and surveillance systems; review footage as needed.
• Document incidents and reports; participate in drills and trainings.
