Job summary

MercyOne Health System in the Quad Cities region seeks a Security Officer for the night shift to protect patients, visitors, staff and hospital assets through a vigilant physical presence. Responsibilities include maintaining safety, handling sensitive situations, and working a schedule that includes every Saturday and every other Sunday and holidays.

Minimum education is high school diploma; valid driver’s license required.

Qualifications

• Basic Life Support and CPI within 60 days
• Law enforcement or criminal justice coursework preferred
• High School diploma or equivalent

Responsibilities

• Provide physical presence to deter and detect conditions that could threaten hospital safety.
• Protect welfare of patients, visitors, staff and assets within the hospital environment.
• Interact with a wide range of people and resolve sensitive or stressful situations with professionalism.

As a Security Officer at MercyOne, you will provide a physical presence for the purpose of prevention and/or detection of adverse conditions which would place the safety and security of the hospital environment at risk while protecting welfare of patients, visitors, staff and facility assets.

Interaction is with a variety of people inside or outside the organization. Communications are often difficult or stressful in nature. Contact with others involves complex, detailed and often sensitive topics. The job requires a high degree of interpersonal skills to deal with a range of complicated problem situations. Interactions involve gaining the agreement of others.

Schedule:

• Night shifts including every Saturday and every other Sunday and holiday requirements.

General Requirements:

• Valid Driver’s License

Pay Range: $18.25 - $27.37

Actual compensation will fall within the range but may vary based on factors such as experience, qualifications, education, location, licensure, certification requirements and comparisons to colleagues in similar roles.
