The Security Officer is responsible for the safety and well-being of patients, staff, physicians, visitors, students, and Medical Center property. Responsibilities include surveillance, incident reporting, and providing quality guest services and assistance to all visitors.

Responsibilities
  1. Conduct patrols throughout the Medical Center to observe and address security and safety issues, acting as a visible deterrent to crime.
  2. Respond to calls and codes for security assistance promptly and effectively, including emergency situations.
  3. Control access to the Medical Center, assist visitors and patients, challenge unauthorized persons professionally, and enforce policies.
  4. Maintain and control access to all facilities owned or operated by Hackensack Meridian Health.
  5. Manage traffic flow in parking lots and enforce parking regulations.
  6. Investigate security incidents, interview witnesses, and collect accurate information.
  7. Respond to fire drills, perform fire watches, and facilitate inspections.
  8. Provide escorts for vehicles as needed.
  9. Report for duty in proper uniform with ID badges.
  10. Inspect outer buildings, grounds, and parking lots for hazards.
  11. Inspect packages leaving the Medical Center as per policy.
  12. Prepare and submit incident reports and activity logs daily.
  13. Maintain security equipment in good condition and report damages.
  14. Keep Security Leaders informed of security matters.
  15. Follow all regulations, policies, and procedures, including parking and conduct codes.
  16. Complete required training and attend meetings.
  17. Work in all weather conditions and areas, including parking lots and grounds.
  18. Perform duties as assigned by security leadership, including emergency security procedures.
  19. Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications

Required:

  • High School diploma, GED, or equivalent.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Proficient with computers, including MS Office or Google Suite.

Preferred:

  • 2 years of college credits.
  • Experience as a Security Officer or Law Enforcement background.

Licenses and Certifications:

  • Valid driver’s license.
  • State, County, or Federal security licenses, renewed biennially.
