Position Summary

Security Officer – Per Diem. This role involves patrolling hospital buildings and grounds, maintaining patient, visitor, volunteer, employee, and property safety, responding to emergencies, and supporting staff in access control and special activities.

Job Responsibilities

• Performs other duties as assigned.
• Greets patients, visitors, and employees courteously and by name, answers inquiries promptly, provides directions, and refers matters appropriately.
• Protects hospital property by patrolling, securing doors, restricting areas, inspecting safety equipment, operating security systems, and escorting personnel as directed.
• Monitors visitors, investigates losses and suspicious situations, escorts unauthorized individuals, and reports incidents. May need restraining skills to subdue violators.
• Communicates security policies, assists with visitor traffic control, and maintains package control according to procedure.
• Responds to fire alarms and other emergencies per established communication systems, guides occupants to safe areas, and collaborates with fire or emergency responders.
• Detains law violators, represents the hospital in legal matters, directs traffic, guards events, and may operate hospital vehicles.

Minimum Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Current and valid NYS Security Guard License.
• Current and valid CPR and AED certification (obtained within 90 days of hire).
• Current and valid Crisis Prevention/Intervention (CPI) certification (obtained within 90 days of hire).
• Strong oral and written communication, interpersonal, and customer service skills.
• Ability to effectively communicate with all levels of the organization.

Required Licenses

• Crisis Prevention/Intervention – Ct.
• Security Guard Reg – NYS.

Preferred Qualifications

• Some college education.
• Current and valid NYS Driver's License.
• Basic MS Office computer skills.
