Job summary

Allied Universal is seeking a part-time unarmed Security Officer Patrol in Gaithersburg, MD to safeguard healthcare and other facilities. You will perform routine patrols, monitor access points, and maintain a visible, customer-focused presence while following site procedures.

The role emphasizes flexible scheduling, excellent customer service, and teamwork. Prior security or access-control experience is preferred; a high school diploma is required, and a background check will be conducted.

Qualifications

• Must be 18+ for unarmed roles; 21+ for armed roles.
• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Background check will be conducted as a condition of employment.
• Drug screen may be required where permitted by law.
• Licensing requirements may be required by state/local law.

Responsibilities

• Provide customer service to employees, visitors, contractors, and/or vendors at healthcare locations by carrying out security-related procedures and policies.
• Respond to incidents, alarms, and access concerns following site protocols and reporting requirements.
• Conduct regular unarmed patrols of buildings, parking areas, and perimeter to deter unauthorized activity.
• Monitor access control points and visitor activity, verify authorization, and maintain logs and incident documentation.
• Assist with emergency procedures, including evacuations, coordinating with site personnel and first responders.

What You'll Do:

• Provide customer service to employees, visitors, contractors, and/or vendors at a healthcare and pharmaceutical research location by carrying out security-related procedures, site-specific policies, and emergency response activities as appropriate.
• Respond to incidents, alarms, access concerns, and critical situations in a calm, professional, problem-solving manner, following established site protocols and reporting requirements.
• Conduct regular and random unarmed patrols of buildings, laboratories, parking areas, access points, and perimeter areas to help to deter unauthorized activity and identify security-related concerns.
• Monitor access control points and visitor activity, verify authorization as required, and maintain accurate logs and incident documentation.
• Assist with emergency procedures, including evacuations and coordination with site personnel and/or first responders, while maintaining a professional presence.

Minimum Requirements:

• Customer service experience is preferred.
• Alarm panel experience is preferred.
• A guard card or license is preferred.
• Access control or badge experience is preferred.
• Comfort using a computer or tablet is preferred.
• Be at least 18 years of age for unarmed roles; 21+ years of age for armed roles.
• Possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
• As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a background investigation in accordance with all federal, state, and local laws.
• Allied Universal will consider qualified applications with criminal histories in a manner consistent with applicable laws.
• As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a drug screen to the extent permitted by law.
• Licensing requirements are subject to state and/or local laws and regulations and may be required prior to employment.
• A valid driver's license will be required for driving positions only.
