Job summary

Allied Universal® in Durham, NC, is seeking a Part-Time Security Officer (Unarmed Patrol) to protect patients, visitors, staff, and contractors in a healthcare setting. You will conduct patrols, monitor access, and provide exceptional customer service while maintaining safety and compliance.

The role offers flexible weekend schedules (Sat/Sun) with a pay rate of $20.46 per hour, and opportunities to grow through training and our Shift-claim platform.

Qualifications

• Be at least 21+ years of age.
• Possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
• Background investigation required by federal, state, and local laws.
• Drug screen required where permitted by law.
• Licensing requirements may apply; subject to state/local laws.
• A valid driver's license required for driving positions only.

Responsibilities

• Provide customer service to patients, visitors, staff, and/or contractors while carrying out security-related procedures, site-specific policies, and appropriate emergency response activities in a healthcare setting.
• Respond to incidents, medical emergencies, and critical situations in a calm, professional, problem-solving manner, notifying appropriate hospital personnel and/or emergency responders as needed.
• Conduct regular and random unarmed patrols of assigned buildings, entrances, parking areas, and perimeter locations to help deter unauthorized activity and identify security-related concerns.
• Monitor access points and visitor activity in accordance with site procedures, assisting with directions and reporting unusual activity to designated personnel.
• Document incidents, observations, and daily activities accurately and promptly in accordance with Allied Universal and site-specific reporting requirements.

Minimum Requirements:

• Be at least 21+ years of age.
• Possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
• As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a background investigation in accordance with all federal, state, and local laws.
• Allied Universal will consider qualified applications with criminal histories in a manner consistent with applicable laws.
• As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a drug screen to the extent permitted by law.
• Licensing requirements are subject to state and/or local laws and regulations and may be required prior to employment.
• A valid driver's license will be required for driving positions only.
