Job summary

Allied Universal is seeking a part-time Security Officer (Unarmed) in New York, NY. You will monitor ferry terminals, control access, and deliver excellent customer service to passengers, staff, and visitors while maintaining safety and security at a government transportation location.

This role offers a flexible schedule with day and weekend shifts and requires you to hold a NY State Security Guard License, have at least 1 year of security experience, and pass a background check and drug

Responsibilities

• Provide customer service to passengers, visitors, and personnel by carrying out site-specific procedures and emergency response activities.
• Conduct regular and random patrols of ferry terminals, passenger waiting areas, boarding areas, waterfront perimeters, and adjacent facilities to identify and report unusual activity.
• Monitor access points and restricted areas, verify authorization, and assist with visitor and contractor entry procedures.
• Respond to incidents and critical situations in a calm, problem-solving manner, documenting observations and notifying appropriate personnel.
• Maintain a visible presence to deter unauthorized activity and provide directions to the public.

What You'll Do:

Minimum Requirements:

• Possess a valid New York State Security Guard License.
• Have at least 1 year of security-related experience.
• Be at least 18 years of age for unarmed roles; 21+ years of age for armed roles.
• Possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
• As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a background investigation in accordance with all federal, state, and local laws.
• Allied Universal will consider qualified applications with criminal histories in a manner consistent with applicable laws.
• As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a drug screen to the extent permitted by law.
• Licensing requirements are subject to state and/or local laws and regulations and may be required prior to employment.
• A valid driver’s license will be required for driving positions only.
