We are currently seeking a talented individual to become a Security Officer. An individual could be successful if they possess the following.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

The Security Officer is responsible for monitoring property, underage prevention, controlling access to restricted areas, reacting to guest and team member incidents, ensuring the safety and security of guests and team members, and provide safety escorts as designated. Delivers excellent guest service in accordance with Oaklawn's Core Values and Standards of Behavior. The following and other duties may be assigned as necessary: Ensures compliance with operational procedures for activities such as guest service standards, fire prevention, emergency response, guarding and patrolling the physical property, orienting and monitoring of personnel inside and outside the facility, and responding to accidents and criminal acts inside and outside the facility. Ensures compliance with all regulatory controls Ensures the enforcement of state casino laws including (but not limited to) the identification and removal of underage persons from the casino floor. Responds to verbal and/or physical altercations and applies or directs the appropriate measures to resolve the situation. Adheres to scheduling and coordinates with manager any scheduling concerns, with attention to guest satisfaction. Enforce internal control policies and procedures Enforce underage gambling and drinking laws Conduct regular security post inspections Prepare security incident reports and maintain security logs. Responsible for ensuring the compliance with all regulatory compliance within area of responsibility and reporting potential issues to management. Patrol (on foot) designated areas to prevent theft, violence, safety issues and hazards Ensure locked areas remain secure by performing door checks Respond to all security calls and alarms in a timely manner. Operate communication equipment properly, safely and according to company policy and procedure Perform escorts of company funds in a safe, secure, timely, and proper manner Provides assistance, directions, and answer questions as needed in a professional courteous manner Performs daily duties and other miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned Stay informed of and follows safety and emergency action procedures Complete all Security department paperwork in a timely and efficient manner Knowledgeable of and consistently follow Oaklawn policies and procedures as well as appropriate local, state and federal regulations Communicate effectively with all levels of the Oaklawn team members and guests. Regular attendance is required Perform work in a safe manner and always maintain a safe environment for fellow team members and guests alike Maintains strict confidentiality Maintain a positive and professional image for the Oaklawn at all times when performing duties or representing the Oaklawn and encourage others to do the same Maintains an attitude & philosophy consistent with the company Core Values and Standards of Behavior with internal & external guests Regular punctual attendance Ability to work required overtime Ability to handle several tasks at the same time Ability to lead by example and act as an ethical and positive role model Ability to maintain a calm, professional and friendly demeanor in all situations Able to maintain the highest level of confidentiality Able to quickly adapt to changing priorities Superior guest service and interpersonal skills. Must be able to work independently and on a team, and exercise good judgment in handling a variety of situations. Excellent communication and problem-solving skills Highly organized and detail oriented Knowledge of Gaming Commission policies, procedures and guidelines Knowledge of gaming, federal and state reporting requirements Strong computer skills Highly organized and detail oriented Must have a professional attitude and appearance. Ability to use a hand‑held radio for communications Ability to read, write and communicate effectively in English Other duties and responsibilities as assigned

QUALIIFICATION REQUIREMENTS

High school diploma or equivalent 1+ year security or similar experience preferred Guest service experience is a must Must have the ability to interact with guests, staff and colleagues and resolve problems and conflicts in a diplomatic and tactful manner. Ability to maintain a calm, professional and friendly demeanor in all situations. Ability to handle and defuse hostile, intoxicated or upset individuals professionally and calmly. Ability to use a hand‑held radio for communications. Flexible to work all shifts including holidays, nights, weekends, and overtime as business needs dictate.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS

Employee must be able to qualify for licenses and permits required by federal, state and local regulations. Must possess a valid driver’s license and have acceptable driving history as determined by Oaklawn Jockey Club.
