Job summary

Allied Universal in Dover, DE is seeking a part-time Security Officer (Screening) at a government location. You will provide front-line security, screen visitors, verify credentials, and respond to incidents while delivering friendly customer service.

This role offers a flexible schedule with weekend night shifts (Sat 9 PM–Sun 5 AM) and opportunities to grow through training and our shift-claim platform. Pay rate is $17.34 per hour.

Qualifications

• Must be at least 18 years old; 21+ for armed roles.
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Background investigation required by law.
• Drug screen required where permitted by law.
• Licensing requirements may apply per state/local laws.
• Valid driver’s license required for driving positions only.

Responsibilities

• Provide customer service to visitors, employees, and the public while carrying out site-specific screening procedures at a government location.
• Screen individuals, personal property, packages, and other items using screening equipment; report prohibited items.
• Verify access credentials and direct visitors to check-in or screening areas according to site requirements.
• Respond to incidents and critical situations calmly, following escalation procedures.
• Conduct regular patrols of screening areas, entry points, and surrounding perimeter to deter unauthorized access.

What You'll Do

• Provide customer service to visitors, employees, and members of the public while carrying out site-specific screening procedures, policies, and emergency response activities at a government location.
• Screen individuals, personal property, packages, and other authorized items using designated screening equipment and established procedures; report prohibited or suspicious items to appropriate personnel.
• Verify access credentials and direct visitors to appropriate check-in, screening, or service areas in accordance with site requirements.
• Respond to incidents and critical situations in a calm, problem-solving manner, following established notification and escalation procedures.
• Conduct regular and random patrols of assigned screening areas, entry points, and surrounding perimeter to help deter unauthorized access and identify security-related concerns.

Minimum Requirements

• Be at least 18 years of age for unarmed roles; 21+ years of age for armed roles.
• Possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
• As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a background investigation in accordance with all federal, state, and local laws.
• Allied Universal will consider qualified applications with criminal histories in a manner consistent with applicable laws.
• As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a drug screen to the extent permitted by law.
• Licensing requirements are subject to state and/or local laws and regulations and may be required prior to employment.
• A valid driver’s license will be required for driving positions only.
