Allied Universal is seeking a part-time Security Officer in New York, NY, to contribute to campus safety and a welcoming environment. The role offers flexible shifts with fixed anchor hours and opportunities to pick up additional shifts through our scheduling platform.

You will perform patrols, respond to incidents, monitor access points, and provide courteous customer service to students, staff, and visitors while adhering to site policies. Compensation is $20.40–$21.40 per hour.

As a Security Officer Part Time Patrol Readiness in New York, NY, this role is designed to provide reliable, consistent hours at an assigned site with the flexibility for you to earn more by picking‑up additional shifts when it works for you.

Pay Rate: $20.40 - $21.40 / Hour

Job Schedule:

• Sun 04:00 PM - 12:00 AM

How This Role Works:

• Fixed-Shift Commitment (“Anchor Shifts”): You will be hired for a designated site and weekly shift that serves as your reliable base schedule. This assignment requires a six (6) month commitment.
• Earn More, Claim-A-Shift Program: In addition to your fixed shift, you may pick‑up extra shifts through our scheduling platform, allowing you to increase earnings and gain experience across multiple sites. Work part‑time hours this week and full‑time the next. It’s all up to you.

This role is ideal for candidates seeking part‑time employment with flexibility, income stability, and opportunities to build‑up to a full‑time schedule of up to 40 hours per week; always with the option to scale back when needed.

Responsibilities:

• Provide customer service to students, faculty, staff, and visitors by carrying out security‑related procedures, site‑specific policies, and, when appropriate, emergency response activities.
• Respond to incidents, medical situations, and other critical events in a calm, professional, problem‑solving manner, notifying appropriate campus personnel and/or emergency services as directed.
• Conduct regular and random patrols of academic buildings, residence areas, common spaces, and surrounding perimeter to help identify and report unusual activity, hazards, and policy concerns.
• Monitor access points and support visitor management procedures in accordance with site‑specific requirements.
• Prepare clear, accurate reports of incidents, observations, and patrol activities, and communicate relevant information to supervisors and campus contacts.

Minimum Requirements:

• A guard card or license is preferred.
• Be at least 18 years of age for unarmed roles; 21+ years of age for armed roles.
• Possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
• As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a background investigation in accordance with all federal, state, and local laws.
• Allied Universal will consider qualified applications with criminal histories in a manner consistent with applicable laws.
• As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a drug screen to the extent permitted by law.
• Licensing requirements are subject to state and/or local laws and regulations and may be required prior to employment.
• A valid driver’s license will be required for driving positions only.
