Job summary

Allied Universal is seeking a Security Officer Part Time Library Patrol in Cary, NC to safeguard clients across government locations and other sites. You will monitor access, perform patrols, and maintain a visible security presence while delivering strong customer service.

Pay rate is $17.00 per hour with a Part Time schedule (Fri 02:15 PM – 06:15 PM; Sat 11:45 AM – 06:15 PM; Sun 12:45 PM – 05:15 PM). This role supports a flexible, community-focused team and opportunities for growth within

Qualifications

• Be at least 21 years of age.
• Comfortable using a computer or tablet.
• Be at least 18 years of age for unarmed roles; 21+ for armed roles.
• Possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
• Background check required by federal, state, and local laws.
• Allied Universal will consider qualified applications with criminal histories.
• A drug screen may be required.
• Licensing requirements may be required.
• A valid driver’s license is required for driving positions only.

Responsibilities

• Provide customer service to visitors, staff, and the public by following site-specific procedures and access control practices at a government location.
• Respond to incidents and disturbances calmly, document observations, and share information with site contacts and first responders as needed.
• Conduct regular and random patrols of buildings, common areas, parking areas, and perimeters to deter unauthorized activity and identify security concerns.
• Monitor entrances, exits, and restricted areas; verify credentials, screen visitors, and report unusual activity.
• Complete incident reports, maintain detailed logs, and communicate professionally with employees, contractors, and the public regarding security matters.

What You’ll Do:

• Provide customer service to visitors, staff, and/or members of the public by carrying out site‑specific procedures, access control practices, and when appropriate, emergency response activities at a government location.
• Respond to incidents, disturbances, and/or critical situations in a calm, problem‑solving manner, documenting observations and sharing information with site contacts and/or first responders as needed.
• Conduct regular and random patrols throughout buildings, offices, common areas, parking areas, and perimeter locations to help to deter unauthorized activity and identify security‑related concerns.
• Monitor entrances, exits, and restricted areas, verifying credentials, screening visitors, and reporting unusual activity according to site policies and post instructions.
• Support day‑to‑day operations by completing incident reports, maintaining detailed activity logs, and communicating professionally with employees, contractors, and/or the public regarding security‑related matters.

Minimum Requirements:

• Be at least 21 years of age.
• Comfortable using a computer or tablet is preferred.
• Be at least 18 years of age for unarmed roles; 21+ years of age for armed roles.
• Possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
• As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a background investigation in accordance with all federal, state, and local laws.
• Allied Universal will consider qualified applications with criminal histories in a manner consistent with applicable laws.
• As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a drug screen to the extent permitted by law.
• Licensing requirements are subject to state and/or local laws and regulations and may be required prior to employment.
• A valid driver’s license will be required for driving positions only.
