Job summary

Allied Universal in Charleston, SC is seeking a Part Time Security Officer - Entrance Access to help safeguard clients in logistics and distribution settings. You will monitor entry points, verify credentials, and provide professional customer service while maintaining a secure environment.

This role offers a flexible schedule, with early morning shifts and opportunities to grow through training and our Claim a Shift platform.

Qualifications

• Minimum one year of security-related experience.
• Customer service experience preferred.
• Comfortably using a computer or tablet is preferred.
• Access control and badge experience preferred.
• Be at least 18 years old for unarmed roles; 21+ for armed roles.

Responsibilities

• Provide customer service to clients by carrying out security-related procedures and site-specific policies.
• Monitor access points, verify credentials, screen visitors and drivers, and maintain records.
• Control entry and exit of employees, visitors, vendors, and vehicles, reporting irregularities.
• Respond calmly to incidents following escalation procedures.
• Conduct patrols of access points and perimeter to deter unauthorized activity.

Job Schedule:

• Mon: 05:00 AM – 10:00 AM
• Tue: 05:00 AM – 10:00 AM
• Wed: 05:00 AM – 10:00 AM
• Thur: 05:00 AM – 10:00 AM
• Fri: 05:00 AM – 10:00 AM

What You’ll Do:

• Provide customer service to clients by carrying out security-related procedures, site-specific policies, and when appropriate, emergency response activities at a logistics and distribution location.
• Monitor access points, verify credentials, screen visitors and drivers, and maintain accurate visitor, contractor, and delivery records in accordance with site procedures.
• Control entry and exit of employees, visitors, vendors, and commercial vehicles, reporting unauthorized access attempts or irregularities to appropriate personnel.
• Respond to incidents and critical situations in a calm, problem-solving manner, following established escalation and communication procedures.
• Conduct regular and random patrols of access points, loading areas, parking locations, and the facility perimeter to help to deter unauthorized activity and identify security-related concerns.

Minimum Requirements:

• Have at least one year of security-related experience.
• Customer service experience is preferred.
• Comfortably using a computer or tablet is preferred.
• Access control and badge experience is preferred.
• At this site there are limited on-site facilities such as portable toilets and rustic guard shacks.
• Be at least 18 years of age for unarmed roles; 21+ years of age for armed roles.
• Possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
• As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a background investigation in accordance with all federal, state, and local laws.
• Allied Universal will consider qualified applications with criminal histories in a manner consistent with applicable laws.
• As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a drug screen to the extent permitted by law.
• Licensing requirements are subject to state and/or local laws and regulations and may be required prior to employment.
• A valid driver’s license will be required for driving positions only.
