Allied Universal is seeking a Security Officer – Enhanced Part Time Armed Patrol in Fairfax, VA. This role offers reliable, flexible hours with fixed anchor shifts and opportunities to pick up additional shifts to increase earnings.

Responsibilities include armed patrols, responding to incidents, and maintaining readiness to carry firearms in compliance with DCJS Virginia requirements. The position pays $22.88 per hour with day and weekend shifts available.

Qualifications

• At least 2 years of security-related experience.
• Armed guard card or license.
• DCJS license in Virginia.
• Handcuffs, pepper spray, and/or baton experience preferred.
• CPR and/or First Aid certification preferred.
• Be at least 21 years of age for armed roles.
• Background check and drug screen required.
• Licensing requirements depend on state laws.
• Driver’s license required for driving positions only.

• Conduct regular and random armed patrols of the healthcare location, including buildings and perimeters.
• Respond to incidents, alarms, and critical situations following established protocols.

• Document observations and communicate information to site leadership and responders.

How This Role Works

• Fixed-Shift Commitment ("Anchor Shifts"): You will be hired for a designated site and weekly shift that serves as your reliable base schedule. This assignment requires a six (6) month commitment.
• Earn More, Claim-A-Shift Program: In addition to your fixed shift, you may pick-up extra shifts through our scheduling platform, allowing you to increase earnings and gain experience across multiple sites. Work part-time hours this week and full-time the next. It’s all up to you.

This role is ideal for candidates seeking part-time employment with flexibility, income stability, and opportunities to build-up to a full-time schedule of up to 40 hours per week; always with the option to scale back when needed.

Responsibilities

• Provide customer service to patients, visitors, staff, and vendors while carrying out site-specific procedures, policies, and emergency response activities.
• Conduct regular and random armed patrols throughout the healthcare location, including buildings, parking areas, and perimeter areas, to help identify and report unusual conditions.
• Respond to incidents, alarms, and critical situations in a calm, problem-solving manner, following established protocols and contacting appropriate personnel or emergency services as needed.
• Maintain authorization and proficiency to carry assigned firearm and related equipment in accordance with applicable laws, Allied Universal policies, and site requirements.
• Document observations, incidents, and security-related activities accurately and communicate relevant information to site leadership and responding personnel.

Minimum Requirements

• Have at least 2 years of security-related experience.
• Possess an armed guard card or license.
• Possess a DCJS license in Virginia only.
• Handcuffs, pepper spray, and/or baton experience is preferred.
• CPR and/or First Aid certification is preferred.
• Be at least 21 years of age for armed roles.
• Possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
• As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a background investigation in accordance with all federal, state, and local laws.
• Allied Universal will consider qualified applications with criminal histories in a manner consistent with applicable laws.
• As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a drug screen to the extent permitted by law.
• Participate in industry-specific security training programs.
• Licensing requirements are subject to state and/or local laws and regulations and may be required prior to employment.
• A valid driver’s license will be required for driving positions only.
