Department Details

Work Tuesday and every other Saturday and Sunday from 6 am to 6:30 pm.

Summary

Enforces policies and procedures with all patients/residents, visitors, and staff. Patrols and secures facility buildings and grounds as assigned.

Job Responsibilities

• Monitor conduct of visitors on premises and confront unauthorized persons for questioning.
• Report safety, fire hazards, or security violations.
• Respond to requests for assistance from employees, patients/residents, and visitors.
• Assist with various situations, aiming for positive outcomes.
• Escort personnel to and from parking areas as requested.
• Maintain records and prepare incident reports and other security-related documents.
• Work effectively with all age groups.
• Prioritize calls for service based on safety needs.
• De-escalate highly stressful situations.
• Maintain awareness of local laws affecting conduct on private property.
• Communicate effectively and write professional reports.
• Demonstrate physical ability to perform security duties as trained.
• This position may require access to medication storage areas for specific job functions.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred; college or vocational education is a plus.
• Prior experience in healthcare security, contract security, or law enforcement is highly preferred.
• May require a valid driver's license with Sanford insurability, depending on region.
• Basic certification by International Association for Healthcare Security and Safety is preferred within one year of hire.
