Job summary

Colonial Downs Group LLC is hiring for a Security Officer on the overnight shift at Rosie’s New Kent. You will provide guest service and ensure the safety of guests and team members, while observing gambling activity and enforcing house rules.

The position runs from 11:30 p.m. to 7:30 a.m., weekends and holidays included. Pay is $17.00/hour, with responsibilities including incident reporting, patrols, access control, and effective communication.”

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Provide high level guest service to guests, team members and vendors.

JOB SUMMARY

Responsible for providing a high level of guest service to all guests, team members, and vendors. Responsible for ensuring the safety and security of the property and its patrons. Responds to Security incidents and provides a visible security presence inside and outside of the facility. Observes patrons participating in gambling activities to detect and respond to infractions of house rules. Will maintain a high level of professionalism, customer service, and integrity while representing the Company in all interactions with guests. This is an overnight position scheduled to work 11:30 p.m. to 7:30 a.m., including weekends and holidays.

Pay: $17.00/hour

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Responsible for providing a high level of guest service to all guests, Team Members, and vendors.
• Responsible for the safety of all guests and Team Members of the property.
• Records investigation and incident reports in a timely manner.
• Assists with the transfer of money throughout the property.
• Patrols property during shift to ensure safety.
• Maintains property rules, policies and regulations are being followed set by the Company and the Virginia Racing Commission (VRC).
• Stands posts in various locations for extended times as assigned.
• Controls and diffuses potential problems and assists Team Members and guests in emergencies.
• Controls access to the property and restricted areas.
• Responds to calls for assistance immediately.
• Maintains radio contact with base during assigned shift.
• Checks identification for gaming floor admittance, greeting guests and vendors positively and professionally.
• Maintains crowd control, ensuring a friendly environment and defusing guest incidents.
• Composes written reports; observes, handles, and reports procedural violations and illegal activity.
• Reports to supervisor/manager on day-to-day activities.
• Attends periodic meetings and training sessions.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

REQUIRED SKILLS AND ABILITIES

• Must be eighteen (18) years of age or older.
• Successful completion of training programs as required by jurisdiction and property.
• Ability to communicate and comprehend information and ideas in spoken and written English.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

• Minimum of one (1) year experience in customer service, law enforcement, military, or security, or pursuing a degree in law enforcement, criminal justice, or a related field. Other combinations of education and experience may be considered.
• Basic computer skills required, such as knowledge of Word and ability to learn and utilize menu-driven programs.
• Must obtain and maintain a valid racing license.
• Required to hold a valid driver’s license with a minimum of three year’s driving experience.
