Job summary

Rosie’s Gaming Emporium – Vinton, part of Colonial Downs Group, is seeking a Security Officer to deliver high‑level guest service and assure property safety. You will respond to incidents, monitor floor activity, and enforce house rules in a calm, professional manner.

Ideal candidates are 18+, complete required training, and communicate effectively in English. Shifts include nights, weekends, and holidays; compensation is $17.00 per hour.

Qualifications

• Minimum of one year experience in customer service, law enforcement, military, or security, or pursuing a related degree.
• Basic computer skills and ability to use Word and learn menu-driven programs.
• Must obtain valid racing license where applicable and have a valid driver's license if required.

Responsibilities

• Provide high level guest service to guests, team members and vendors.
• Ensure safety of guests and team members and respond to incidents.
• Record investigation and incident reports promptly.
• Control access to the property and restricted areas.
• Maintain communications with base via radio during shift.
• Observe patrons and enforce house rules and Virginia Racing Commission regulations.

Job Summary

esponsible for providing a high level of guest service to all guests, team members, and vendors. Responsible for ensuring the safety and security of the property and its patrons. Responds to Security incidents and provides a visible security presence inside and outside of the facility. Observes patrons participating in gambling activities to detect and respond to infractions of house rules. Will maintain a high level of professionalism, customer service, and integrity while representing the Company in all interactions with guests.

Compensation: $17.00

Essential Duties And Responsibilities

• Responsible for providing a high level of guest service to all guests, Team Members, and vendors.
• Responsible for the safety of all guests and Team Members of the property.
• Records investigation and incident reports in a timely manner.
• Assists with the transfer of money throughout the property.
• Patrols property during shift to ensure safety.
• Maintains property rules, policies and regulations are being followed set by the Company and the Virginia Racing Commission (VRC).
• Stands posts in various locations for extended times as assigned.
• Controls and diffuses potential problems and assists Team Members and guests in emergencies.
• Controls access to the property and restricted areas.
• Responds to calls for assistance immediately.
• Maintains radio contact with base during assigned shift.
• Checks identification for gaming floor admittance, greeting guests and vendors positively and professionally.
• Maintains crowd control, ensuring a friendly environment and defusing guest incidents.
• Composes written reports; observes, handles, and reports procedural violations and illegal activity.
• Reports to supervisor/manager on day-to-day activities.
• Attends periodic meetings and training sessions.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Required Skills And Abilities

• Must be eighteen (18) years of age or older.
• Successful completion of training programs as required by jurisdiction and property.
• Ability to communicate and comprehend information and ideas in spoken and written English.
• Ability to accept, prioritize, and follow through on work direction.
• Ability to function well in a fast-paced and at times stressful environment.
• Ability to remain calm, utilizing rational thinking and decision- making by employing conflict-resolution.
• Ability to work with both guests and fellow Team Members in a professional and courteous manner, promoting positive customer relations for all by providing prompt, courteous and efficient service.
• Ability to work nights, weekends, and holidays.

Education And Experience

• Minimum of one (1) year experience in customer service, law enforcement, military, or security, or pursuing a degree in law enforcement, criminal justice, or a related field. Other combinations of education and experience may be considered.
• Basic computer skills required, such as knowledge of Word and ability to learn and utilize menu-driven programs.
• Must obtain valid racing license, where applicable.
• May be required to hold a valid driver’s license with a minimum of three year’s driving experience.

• While performing the duties of this job, the Team Member is frequently required to sit or stand for extended amounts of time; walk for extended amounts of time; use hands to finger, reach, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; and talk or hear.
• The Team Member may also be required to lift, push, and pull up to 25 lbs.
• The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to loud.
• Team Member will be subject to an environment with flashing lights.
• The Team Member is subjected to circulate throughout the assigned areas, including the smoking area, actively observing players and functioning of machines.
