$15.00 - $20.15 hourly (Hiring: $15.00 – $17.57 hourly)
A Part‑time Security Guard is primarily responsible for maintaining a post to greet and direct visitors and guests of the Baltimore Convention Center to events and area attractions while ensuring the facility is properly secured and that no unauthorized individuals are in restricted areas. Part‑time security guards assist Public Safety Officers with maintaining order, manning posts, and enforcing policies and procedures inside and outside the convention center buildings and grounds. They receive moderate supervision and training to prepare them for becoming a full‑time Public Safety Officer. Part‑time guards work on an as‑needed basis; they must be available to work all shifts, weekends, and holidays, and work requires moderate exertion with prolonged periods of standing in both indoor and outdoor environments, including exposure to inclement weather. This position does not involve apprehending or arresting individuals engaged in illegal activity.
Education: High School Diploma or GED Certificate.
Experience: One year of security or Law Enforcement experience. Security Guard card certification is preferred.
Eligible candidates under final consideration for appointment to positions identified as positions of trust will be required to complete authorization for a Criminal Background Check and/or Fingerprint must be successfully completed.
All persons, including current City employees, selected for this position must complete a mandatory six‑month probation.
This position is required to complete a Financial Disclosure pursuant to Sections 7-7, 7-8, and 7-9 of the City Ethics Law. The initial financial disclosure must be submitted within 30 days of hire.
