Barbier Security Group (BSG) is a Bay Area security company providing tailored, on-site protection services. We are seeking qualified Security Officers for our Incident Response Team at a prestigious private University in Oakland.

You'll handle de-escalation, crisis management, and precise reporting to safeguard the campus community. This role operates on a 24/7 coverage model, with a Full Time Swing shift (Friday - Tuesday) and a pay rate of $29.50 per hour.

Qualifications

• Must be at least 18 years old and eligible to work in the United States.
• Current California Guard Card License required.
• Valid driver’s license and clean driving record for 3 years.
• Proficient with basic computer and smartphone usage.
• Ability to report in English; other languages a plus.

Responsibilities

BSG is currently seeking qualified Security Officers for our Incident Response Team at a prestigious private University in Oakland. Security Officers on the Incident Response Team play a critical role in maintaining a secure campus environment. The ideal candidate will be equipped with specialized skills in de-escalation and crisis management, ensuring the safety and well-being of our university community.

This position requires a strong commitment to proactive security measures, effective communication, and rapid response to incidents. The Incident Response Team is staffed twenty-four (24) hours per day, seven (7) days per week. The Incident Response Team is directly responsible for the accurate documentation of routine and unusual events occurring on or near the facilities. The team must maintain an expert level of knowledge of the campus rules and always provide professional interactions that promote safety to, and confidence from, the people that encompass the property.

• Shift: Full Time Swing (Friday - Tuesday).

Requirements & Qualifications

• Must be at least 18 years old.
• Eligibility to work in the United States.
• High School Diploma or equivalent required.
• Possess a current California Guard Card License.
• A valid Driver's License and a clean driving record for 3 years is required.
• Reliable transportation is necessary.
• Proficient in basic computer and smartphone usage.
• Must be able to speak, read, and write in English to create accurate reports; additional language skills are a plus.
• Strong listening skills, patience, and compassion, particularly when interacting with community members experiencing emotional or psychological challenges.
• Ability to remain calm in crisis situations, think critically, de-escalate conflicts, and communicate effectively.

• At least one year of experience in security, mobile patrol, or event staff roles.

Physical Requirements

• Stand, Walk or Sit for Extended Periods: Ability to sit while driving a vehicle, stand or walk for long periods, often for several hours at a time, including traversing outdoor areas with uneven surfaces, without significant physical strain.
• Climb Stairs: Regularly climb stairs and navigate multi-level buildings to perform patrols and check all areas.
• Lift and Carry: Ability to lift up to 50 pounds to move or secure equipment, and assist with other duties as necessary.
• Physical Endurance: Ability to withstand various weather conditions during outdoor patrols, including hot, cold, rainy, or windy weather.
• Manual Dexterity: Ability to handle and operate security equipment, such as radios, keys, and locks.
• Run or Move Quickly: Ability to sprint short distances if needed to respond quickly to emergencies or incidents.
• Physical Stamina: Capable of working long hours while remaining alert and focused throughout the shift. De-escalate stressful situations with professionalism and patience.
• Kneeling and Bending: Ability to kneel, crouch, and bend to check low-level areas, secure entrances, or assist in emergencies.
