Winter Park Memorial Hospital has served the community for over 50 years, expanding to meet the needs with facilities like the Level II Neonatal Intensive Care Unit, cancer care, and orthopedic services.

The role you’ll contribute:

The Security Officer II performs security duties through professional interaction with the public, patients, employees, and administrators. Responsibilities include responding to calls, assisting in emergencies, investigating hazards and incidents, patrolling designated areas, and ensuring safety and security of people and property. The role requires initiative, judgment, competence, and participation in excellent customer service. Completion of physical and physiological fitness screenings is required.

• Proactively patrols assigned areas, investigates suspicious activity, reports hazards, and responds to vulnerabilities including emergencies and natural disasters.
• Participates in activities like transport of bodies, patient escort, safety checks, and event setups.
• Responds appropriately to emergency and alarm calls, administers first aid, and maintains communication with the team.
• Uses de-escalation techniques to manage disputes and manages violent individuals using approved techniques.
• Patrols, monitors traffic, investigates suspicious activities, and documents incidents.
• May need to use force when appropriate and support various campuses as needed.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

Knowledge and Skills Required:

• Ability to read, write, and comprehend legal and safety documents.
• Ability to operate vehicles and communication devices safely.
• Basic computer literacy and good critical thinking skills.
• Ability to work under stress, recognize faces, maintain confidentiality, and work independently or in a team.
• Exceptional customer service skills and effective communication.

Knowledge and Experience Preferred:

• Knowledge of Access Control and CCTV systems.
• Understanding of Emergency Management principles.

Education and Experience Required:

• High School diploma or equivalent, 0 years experience.

Licensure, Certification, or Registration Required:

• International Association for Healthcare Security and Safety (IAHSS) Basic Training certification or equivalent within six months.
• Florida Driver's License.

Additional Certifications (Preferred):

• Basic Life Support (BLS).
• Handcuffing, Pepper Spray, Baton, TASER certifications.
