Reports to the Director. Responsible for providing a safe, secure, and effective environment of care. Generally assigned to the Emergency Trauma Center (ETC), this environment is sustained by monitoring hospital facilities, properties, and functions to protect property, patients, visitors, and employees from hazards, physical harm, trespassing, vandalism, sabotage, fire, and theft. Directs visitors, patients, and employees to appropriate locations and intervenes to prevent and control disturbances.
MISSION, VALUES, and SERVICE GOALS
Attending meetings, completing mandatory education, maintaining certifications, adhering to policies, and being available for overtime as required.
Two years of police or security experience, or relevant education and training in law enforcement, military police, or healthcare security.
License to carry a handgun in Michigan, firearms training, surveillance knowledge, valid driver’s license, strong communication skills, and computer proficiency for report writing.
Exposure to weather, potential dangers, and the need for specialized training to reduce injury risk.
Ability to stand for long periods, climb stairs, restrain individuals, and work outdoors in inclement weather.
