Position Overview:

Responsible for processing background check requests for potential sponsors of unaccompanied children. This includes handling fingerprint and child abuse and neglect background checks, collaborating with federal or state agencies to compile existing information, and ensuring timely delivery to the Administration for Children and Families (ACF) or its designee. The role involves evaluating database searches for sponsor information and serving as an advisory to the SAI's based on experience.

This is a Ready Reserve position, involving a comprehensive hiring process including interviews, background check, and drug screening. Successful candidates will be placed on a Ready Reserve List for future placement as vacancies arise. Currently, there is no open position.

Primary Areas of Work:
  • Sponsor Checks
  • Child Abuse and Neglect Checks
Key Responsibilities:
  • Coordinate sponsor and child abuse/neglect checks using established OSSI procedures
  • Interface with federal and state agencies, ACF personnel, and OSSI staff
  • Produce reports on findings and statistics
  • Present procedures to clients and partners via various platforms
  • Travel less than 5% for site visits and training
  • Overcome obstacles to ensure timely checks
  • Mentor junior staff
  • Serve as main contact for government requests
  • Maintain customer service excellence
  • Prepare technical reports
  • Manage large information volumes
  • Research policies on Child Protective Services Checks
  • Respond to requests for information
  • Familiarity with Spanish or willingness to learn preferred
  • Work independently, handle case loads efficiently
  • Manage case processes: opening, processing, closing, follow-ups
Qualifications:
  • Associate degree or equivalent experience
  • Minimum 2 years experience as an SAI or equivalent
  • U.S. citizenship
  • Willingness to travel up to 5%
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite
