We are looking for a Security Officer to join our team! This position is responsible for patrolling, observing, and monitoring the Museum while reporting any irregularities or damages. The Security Officer is expected to complete reports that include recording observations, information, and surveillance activities in and around the facility. The Security Officer ensures our guests feel safe and comfortable while providing exceptional customer service. In this position, you will work closely with other security officers, the Denver Police Department, museum staff, and guests.

Essential Duties
- Observes, patrols, monitors, and controls access for the entire Museum facility complex.
- Reports safety and security discrepancies.
- Dispatches officers and emergency response. Monitors software, CCTV, and fire panels.
- Immediately responds to and assists in the coordination of emergency incidents.
- Communicates information to guests and staff appropriate to each situation.
- Maintains a balance of customer service, legal behavior, and adherence to procedures while enforcing museum rules and policies.
- Maintains required training certifications in First aid and CPR annually.
- Provides special escorts.
- Other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications/Requirements
- High School or equivalent required
- 1 year of experience in security, military, or equivalent related service is required
- Current driver’s license with clean driving record, or ability to obtain a license within 30 days of hire.
- Ability to comply with requirements for Denver Security License within 30 days of hire.
- Bilingual in English/Spanish
Working Conditions
- Office: Moderate noise (business office with computers and printers, light traffic)
- Lifting requirements: Medium physical effort required by handling up to 50 pounds occasionally and/or up to 10 pounds frequently.
- Stand or sit: must be able to remain in a stationary position (80% of the time)
- Ability to walk 6-8 miles/day to patrol the Museum and property.
- Ability to work outside as needed in all types of weather.
- Ability to move someone in a wheelchair, or relocate an injured party to a safer area.
- Ability to climb ladders and investigate issues in an emergency.
- May need to detain suspects for police apprehension.
