Job Summary
Provides a reasonably safe and secure environment by providing security services for the staff, patients, visitors, and premises as well as being first responders to urgent facility matters.
Primary Responsibilities
- Protects property and staff by conducting interior and exterior rounds, observing for safety and security issues, theft, and monitoring of parking lots.
- Promotes visitor and employee safety while on the organization's property by providing door checks, detecting lighting deficiencies, confirming proper operation of elevators, assisting with disruptive individuals, patient restraints, and providing escorts to both staff and clients when requested.
- Responds to overhead pages or requests for assistance, including escorting emergency personnel through the building, and provides post-mortem services.
- Provides professional customer service in complex and dynamic situations, communicating effectively with staff or clients, and proactively identifying safety and security hazards.
- Observes and reports security concerns, completes incident reports and shift logs, and forwards them to appropriate individuals.
- Assists with maintenance through property conservation and safety measures such as alarm testing, checking life safety equipment, AEDs, oxygen tanks, fire extinguishers, access control, badging, and door integrity checks.
- Enforces organizational policies and procedures.
- Monitors, reviews, and investigates incidents using the video management system.
- May operate motor vehicle for patrols.
- Works in a constant state of alertness and safety.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Education
- High School diploma/GED or 10 years of work experience.
Experience & Additional Requirements
- After a conditional offer, successfully complete a psychological assessment.
Physical Requirements
- Constant use of hearing and vision for communication, alarms, and safety assessments.
- Frequent lifting, carrying, pushing, and pulling objects up to 50 lbs.
- Frequent standing, walking, twisting, and other movements.
- Occasional bending, climbing, kneeling, and driving.
Professional Licenses & Certifications
- Various licenses depending on state, including Driver's License, PERC, armed security licenses, or law enforcement credentials.
