Duties of Safety and Security Officer:

• Stationed at Sibley Memorial Hospital entrances with weapons detection systems.
• Partner with Guest Services to enhance security and foster a patient and family-centered culture.
• Manage daily operations at entrances, maintain safety, and operate weapons detection systems.
• Provide superior customer service, trained in de-escalation and conflict management techniques.
• Collaborate with internal security patrols across JHMI buildings to prevent illegal activities, theft, fire hazards, and other safety issues.
• Ensure no unauthorized weapons or objects enter the hospital, maintaining a safe environment.

Requirements of Security Specialist:

• Must be 21 years or older to apply and test for the Security Police Officer License.
• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Valid Driver’s License with a clean driving record (no more than 2 points).
• At least one year of security experience preferred.
• Complete basic security officer and customer service training within 90 days of hire.
• Hospital security experience is a plus.
• Willingness to work other shifts with a 30-day notice prior to shift changes.

Shift Details:

Full-Time (40 hours/week), Night Shift, Weekend work required, Non-Exempt.

Benefits & Compensation:

Robust benefits include medical, dental, vision, and 401(k). Salary ranges from $20.40 to $33.65/hour, based on experience and equity. Salary discussions occur during screening if range is not specified.
