Evening shift differential: 10%
Weekend shift differential: 15%
Salary range: $20.68 - $32.05.
Responsible for the safety and well-being of patients, visitors, staff, facilities, and hospital property.
Responsibilities
- Patrols all areas of their assigned facility looking for illegal/inappropriate activity and security/safety concerns. Proactively provides information, assistance, and guidance to patients, visitors, and staff.
- Conducts internal and external rounds/patrols to ensure the safety and security of the facility, property, and occupants.
- Responds to and investigates security incidents. Ensures all incidents and activities are appropriately documented and recorded.
- Assists nursing units, clinical care areas, and other departments with uncooperative, combative, or violent patients and visitors. Effectively de-escalates situations and uses the appropriate AVADE techniques.
- Provides patient watch activities to prevent elopement or injury to self/others.
- At the direction of the medical staff, applies restraints. Contacts local law enforcement as the situation warrants.
- Deals with custody disputes and/or domestic disturbances occurring on campus.
- Conducts patient and visitor searches when required and conducts room and belongings searching as needed.
- Responds to emergencies and code calls. Performs CPR, including the use of AEDs. For medical incidents outside the building, contacts the local fire department for ambulance response.
- Monitors all parking lots for compliance with facility parking regulations. Tickets unauthorized parked cars. Observes and follows up on safety hazards in parking areas. Provides vehicle assistance services.
- Enforces company policies as directed by a supervisor.
- Assists with parking space and utilization. Rearranges parking barricades to meet organizational needs and special events. Assists parking officers with parking control and assistance.
- Assists DHART with helicopter arrivals and departures. Releases deceased patients and accepts incoming deceased patients.
- Completes all required/requested forms, reports, and documents.
- Completes assigned secondary duties.
- Responds to duress alarms, calls for service, and other emergency situations.
- Performs other duties as required or assigned.
Qualifications
- High school graduate required.
- Two years of related experience preferred.
- Direct security experience highly preferred.
Required Licensure/Certifications
- Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record required in accordance with D-H’s Driver Disqualifications Guidelines.
- Must maintain Taser, Handcuff, and Pepper Gel certification.
- Must complete all required training and pass minimal physical requirements within 90 days from date of hire and as required thereafter.
- Must obtain IAHSS Basic Security Officer Certification within 6 months of hire.
