Job summary

Allied Universal® is hiring a Security Officer – Part Time Enhanced in Wheaton, MD to deliver security services at a busy retail site. You will maintain fixed anchor shifts and have the option to pick up additional shifts through the Earn More, Claim-A-Shift program, increasing earnings while keeping a part-time schedule.

Compensation is $18.75 per hour with a structured day mix: 07:00–15:00 on weekdays, plus weekend coverage.

Qualifications

• At least 1 year of security-related experience is required.
• CPR certification is preferred.
• A state, county, or city-issued security-related license is preferred.
• Access control and badge experience is preferred.
• Be at least 18 years of age for unarmed roles; 21+ years of age for armed roles.
• Possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
• As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a background investigation in accordance with all federal, state, and local laws.
• Allied Universal will consider qualified applications with criminal histories in a manner consistent with applicable laws.

Responsibilities

• Provide customer service to shoppers, tenants, visitors, and/or employees by carrying out security-related procedures, site-specific policies, and when appropriate, emergency response activities.
• Respond to incidents, customer concerns, and critical situations in a calm, professional, problem-solving manner, escalating matters according to established protocols.
• Conduct regular and random unarmed patrols throughout the retail property, common areas, parking areas, and perimeter to help identify and report unusual conditions or policy violations.
• Monitor access points, observe activity throughout the location, and assist with directing visitors or providing information as needed.
• Prepare accurate reports and communicate observations, incidents, and maintenance-related concerns to appropriate personnel.

How This Role Works:

• Fixed‑Shift Commitment (“Anchor Shifts”): You will be hired for a designated site and weekly shift that serves as your reliable base schedule. This assignment requires a six (6) month commitment.
• Earn More, Claim‑A‑Shift Program: In addition to your fixed shift, you may pick‑up extra shifts through our scheduling platform, allowing you to increase earnings and gain experience across multiple sites. Work part‑time hours this week and full‑time the next. It’s all up to you.

This role is ideal for candidates seeking part‑time employment with flexibility, income stability, and opportunities to build‑up to a full‑time schedule of up to 40 hours per week; always with the option to scale back when needed.
