Job summary

Allied Universal in Penns Grove, NJ is seeking a Security Officer Enhanced Part Time Patrol Observer to provide reliable, flexible coverage at an assigned site. This role offers part‑time hours with opportunities to pick up extra shifts through the Earn More, Claim‑A‑Shift program, and a pay rate of $20.70 per hour.

As a Security Officer Enhanced Part Time Patrol Observer in Penns Grove, NJ, this role is designed to provide reliable, consistent hours at an assigned site with the flexibility for you to earn more by picking‑up additional shifts when it works for you.

Pay Rate: $20.70 / Hour

Job Schedule:

DayTimeFri05:00 PM - 09:00 PM

How This Role Works:

• Fixed-Shift Commitment (“Anchor Shifts”): You will be hired for a designated site and weekly shift that serves as your reliable base schedule. This assignment requires a six (6) month commitment.
• Earn More, Claim-A-Shift Program: In addition to your fixed shift, you may pick‑up extra shifts through our scheduling platform, allowing you to increase earnings and gain experience across multiple sites. Work part‑time hours this week and full‑time the next. It’s all up to you.

This role is ideal for candidates seeking part‑time employment with flexibility, income stability, and opportunities to build‑up to a full‑time schedule of up to 40 hours per week; always with the option to scale back when needed.

Responsibilities

• Provide customer service to students, staff, visitors, and/or families by carrying out site‑specific security‑related procedures, policies, and when appropriate, emergency response activities.
• Conduct regular and random unarmed patrols of school buildings, grounds, parking areas, entrances, and perimeter areas to help to deter unauthorized activity and identify security‑related concerns.
• Monitor access points and visitor activity in accordance with school procedures, reporting unusual conditions, policy violations, and/or maintenance concerns to appropriate personnel.
• Respond to incidents, disturbances, medical situations, and critical events in a calm, professional, problem‑solving manner while following established site procedures.
• Document daily activities, incidents, and observations accurately, and communicate relevant information to school representatives and Allied Universal leadership.

Minimum Requirements

• At least two years of security‑related experience is required.
• Comfortable using a computer or tablet preferred.
• Ability to lift more than 20 pounds preferred.
• Guard card or license preferred.
• CPR and First Aid preferred.
• Be at least 18 years of age for unarmed roles; 21+ years of age for armed roles.
• Possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
• As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a background investigation in accordance with all federal, state, and local laws.
• Allied Universal will consider qualified applications with criminal histories in a manner consistent with applicable laws.
• As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a drug screen to the extent permitted by law.
• Licensing requirements are subject to state and/or local laws and regulations and may be required prior to employment.
• A valid driver’s license will be required for driving positions only.
