Allied Universal is seeking a Security Officer – Part Time Enhanced in Detroit, MI to provide dependable, flexible hours at an assigned site with opportunities to pick up additional shifts through our scheduling platform.

The role focuses on front desk security, access control, and exceptional customer service for tenants and visitors, with a six-month anchor shift commitment and potential to scale hours up to 40 per week.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Background check and drug screening will be conducted.
• 18+ (21+ for armed roles) as applicable.
• Valid driver's license required for driving positions.
• Experience in customer service and front desk presence preferred.
• Access control and badge experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide exceptional customer service to tenants, visitors, vendors, and staff at the front desk.
• Monitor visitor access, verify credentials, maintain logs, issue temporary access credentials.
• Answer calls, receive deliveries, and communicate routine information to building occupants.
• Respond to incidents and alarms calmly and document activities as required.
• Monitor lobby activity and deter unauthorized access to the property.

How This Role Works

• Fixed-Shift Commitment (“Anchor Shifts”): You will be hired for a designated site and weekly shift that serves as your reliable base schedule. This assignment requires a six (6) month commitment.
• Earn More, Claim‑A‑Shift Program: In addition to your fixed shift, you may pick‑up extra shifts through our scheduling platform, allowing you to increase earnings and gain experience across multiple sites. Work part-time hours this week and full-time the next. It’s all up to you.

This role is ideal for candidates seeking part-time employment with flexibility, income stability, and opportunities to build-up to a full-time schedule of up to 40 hours per week; always with the option to scale back when needed.

Responsibilities

• Provide exceptional customer service to tenants, visitors, vendors, and property staff while carrying out site‑specific procedures and security‑related responsibilities at the front desk.
• Monitor visitor access, verify credentials, maintain visitor logs, issue temporary access credentials, and direct guests in accordance with property policies.
• Answer incoming calls, receive deliveries, communicate routine information to building occupants, and maintain a professional, welcoming front‑desk presence.
• Respond to incidents, alarms, and critical situations in a calm, problem‑solving manner, notifying appropriate personnel and documenting activities as required.
• Monitor lobby and entrance activity, report suspicious or unusual conditions, and help to deter unauthorized access to the property.

Minimum Requirements

• Comfortable using a computer or tablet is preferred.
• Customer service experience is preferred.
• Access control and badge experience is preferred.
• Be at least 18 years of age for unarmed roles; 21+ years of age for armed roles.
• Possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
• As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a background investigation in accordance with all federal, state, and local laws.
• Allied Universal will consider qualified applications with criminal histories in a manner consistent with applicable laws.
• As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a drug screen to the extent permitted by law.
• Licensing requirements are subject to state and/or local laws and regulations and may be required prior to employment.
• A valid driver’s license will be required for driving positions only.
