Job summary

Allied Universal is seeking a Security Officer for Educational Facility Access Control in Patchogue, NY. This full-time role involves monitoring access points, verifying credentials, and maintaining logs while delivering excellent customer service to students, faculty, staff, visitors, and contractors.

The position requires 18+ or 21+ for armed roles, a high school diploma or equivalent, and background checks. Training and career growth opportunities are provided.

Qualifications

• Customer service experience preferred.
• Familiarity with alarm panels and basic security equipment preferred.
• CPR/First Aid training is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Provide customer service to students, faculty, staff, visitors, and contractors while enforcing site-specific procedures.
• Monitor access points and verify credentials, and permitted entry per campus policies.
• Maintain accurate visitor and access-related logs and communicate updates to campus representatives and leadership.
• Respond calmly to access-related incidents and alarms following escalation procedures.
• Conduct regular patrols of entrances, common areas, and perimeter to deter unauthorized access.

Security Officer Educational Facility Access Control – Patchogue, NY

Position Type: Full Time

Pay Rate: $18.90 / Hour

Job Schedule:

• Wed 07:00 AM - 03:00 PM
• Thur 07:00 AM - 03:00 PM
• Fri 07:00 AM - 03:00 PM
• Sat 07:00 AM - 03:00 PM
• Sun 10:00 AM - 06:00 PM

What You’ll Do:

• Provide customer service to students, faculty, staff, visitors, and contractors while carrying out site-specific procedures, access-control policies, and emergency response activities at an educational location.
• Monitor access points and verify credentials, visitor authorization, and permitted entry in accordance with campus policies.
• Maintain accurate visitor, contractor, and access-related logs and communicate relevant information to appropriate campus representatives and/or Allied Universal leadership.
• Respond to access-related incidents, alarms, and critical situations in a calm, professional, problem-solving manner, following established escalation procedures.
• Conduct regular and random patrols of assigned entrances, common areas, and the surrounding perimeter to help deter unauthorized access and identify security-related concerns.

Minimum Requirements:

• Alarm panel experience is preferred.
• Comfortable using a computer or tablet is preferred.
• CPR/First Aid is preferred.
• Access control/badge experience is preferred.
• Customer service experience is preferred.
• Be at least 18 years of age for unarmed roles; 21+ years of age for armed roles.
• Possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
• As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a background investigation in accordance with all federal, state, and local laws.

• As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a drug screen to the extent permitted by law.
• Licensing requirements are subject to state and/or local laws and regulations and may be required prior to employment.
• A valid driver’s license will be required for driving positions only.
