Job summary

Mercy Fitzgerald Hospital is seeking a Security Officer to join our Security Team. The role protects staff, patients and visitors, and safeguards hospital property during daytime shifts.

This Full Time, 40-hour per week position requires vigilant, independent decision-making and the ability to work as part of a team in a fast-paced health care environment at Mercy Fitzgerald Hospital in Darby, PA.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent is required.
• Ability to make independent decisions when warranted.
• Ability to deal tactfully with coworkers, patients and visitors.

Responsibilities

• Patrol hospital premises to ensure safety and security.
• Monitor CCTV and respond to incident reports and alarms.
• Assist in managing aggressive or violent behavior using non-abusive procedures.
• Support the Security Team in incident investigations and reporting.

Position Purpose

The Security Officer is responsible for the security of hospital employees, patients/families, visitors, and property.

As a Security Officer you will:

• Knows, understands, incorporates, and demonstrates the Trinity Health Mission, Vision, and Values in behaviors, practices, and decisions.
• Recognizes special needs/concerns of populations served and adjusts communication accordingly, i.e., language barrier, diminished hearing, concrete terms, etc.
• Does Patrol Tours
• Monitors Close Circuit TV (CCTV)
• Responds to all Emergency Code alerts
• Other duties as assigned by manager

Minimum Qualifications

• High School graduate or equivalent
• Valid Driver's license in good standing
• Possess the ability to make independent decisions when circumstances warrant such action.
• Possess the ability to deal tactfully with co-workers, patients and visitors
• Perform alone or as a team member in the management of aggressive or violent behavior through non-abusive physical intervention.
• 1-year Prior hospital experience preferred
