Job summary

UMMC Campus Police is seeking a Security Officer to guard and monitor premises, patrols, and provide information and directions to patients and visitors.

The role requires a high school diploma or GED, valid US driver’s license, and post-hire certifications including FEMA courses. Location: Main Campus Jackson, MS. Full-time, hourly pay with strong safety focus.

Job Summary

Education & Experience

Education and Experience Required:

• High school diploma/GED

Certifications, Licenses or Registration required

Certifications, Licenses or Registration required:

• Valid US Driver's License.
• MS Driver's license required post-hire within 30 days.
• FEMA IC 100, 200, 700, 800 courses required post-hire within 90 days.

• Ability to understand and enforce safety procedures.

Responsibilities

• Patrols assigned areas to ensure personal, building, and equipment security.

• Scrutinizes and reports irregularities such as fire hazards, leaking water pipes, unlocked security doors, and safety concerns.
• Provides information and directions to patients and visitors.
• Prepares applicable reports.
• Directs traffic and enforces motor vehicle operation and parking regulations.

Physical and Environmental Demands

Requires frequent exposure to unpleasant or disagreeable physical environment such as high noise level and exposure to heat and cold, frequent handling or working with potentially dangerous equipment, exposure to biohazardous conditions such as risk of radiation exposure, blood borne pathogens, fumes or airborne particles, and/or toxic or caustic chemicals which mandate attention to safety considerations, occasional working hours significantly beyond regularly scheduled hours, occasional travelling to offsite locations, occasional bending, occasional lifting and carrying up to 75 pounds, occasional climbing, occasional crawling, occasional crouching/stooping, occasional driving, occasional kneeling, occasional pushing/pulling, occasional reaching, occasional sitting, frequent standing, occasional twisting, and frequent walking.
