Job summary

St. Mark's Hospital in Salt Lake City is seeking an Armed Security Officer (PRN) to safeguard staff, patients, and visitors while maintaining a safe hospital environment.

The role requires current full-time law enforcement status and at least 2 years of armed security or police experience, with a focus on customer service and rapid response to incidents. This position offers the chance to serve a major Utah healthcare facility on an as-needed basis.

Qualifications

• Must be currently employed as a full-time law enforcement officer.
• Requires 2 years of armed security/police experience or equivalent.

Responsibilities

• Provide protection for hospital staff, patients, visitors and property as a sworn officer.
• Perform police actions per state laws and hospital policies to deter crimes in progress.
• Enforce hospital security rules and act as a visible deterrent to crime on campus.
• Assist security staff, physicians, patients and visitors to maintain a safe environment.
• Conduct building and ground patrols and respond to all emergency codes/alarms.
• Support helipad duties, morgue procedures, parking enforcement and escorts.
• Investigate thefts, disturbances and suspicious activity within the facility and grounds.
• Assist medical personnel with patient restraints as directed.
• Monitor disruptions by visitors or families and request outside law enforcement when needed.

Job Summary And Qualifications

As an Armed Security Offer at our facility you will have an impact on the lives of our patients, customers, and caregivers as you help maintain a safe healing environment and provide excellent customer service. You will have an opportunity to build rapport with a diverse patient and staff population and help us better serve our community. In this role:

• You will provide protection services for hospital staff members, patients, visitors, and property as a sworn law enforcement officer.
• You will perform approved police actions complying with state laws and associated police department policies and procedures as necessary to deter/terminate crimes in progress.
• You will enforce hospital rules and policies pertaining to security service and provide a visible deterrent to crime and violence on the hospital campus.
• You will assist hospital security, staff, physicians, patients, and visitors with maintaining a safe and secure environment.
• You will provide building and ground patrol and respond to all emergency codes/alarms.
• You will assist with Helipad duties, morgue procedures, parking enforcement, and employee/patient escorts.
• You will investigate thefts, disturbances, and suspicious activity within the hospital facility and grounds.
• You will assist medical personnel with patient restraints as directed.
• You will monitor and contain disruptions by visitors or patient families and call for outside law enforcement as necessary

What qualifications you will need:

• Must be currently employed as a full-time law enforcement officer and in good standing with the associated police department.
• Requires 2 years of armed security/police experience or equivalent.
