Mō te Tūranga | About the role:

Our Security Officers are a vital part of our team providing front-line Security services to protect the safety and security of our customers, staff and property. They're a dedicated and hardworking team who are often the first point of call for any issues that arise. As well as ad-hoc requests, they'll have a rotation of daily tasks to get involved in providing heaps of variety on the job.

This is a dual-rate position, meaning you will act up into the role of Security Shift Manager to lead the team on duty as and when required. When acting as Security Shift Manager, you will be remunerated at a higher hourly rate. To this end we are looking for applicants who have frontline supervisory and leadership experience who can demonstrate an aptitude for learning new skills and exercising good judgement and decision making. This is a full-time role, working 40 hours/week on a rotating roster - weekend availability is required for this position. Preference will be given to candidates who are flexible in their availability.

Being a customer service role, you'll be someone who loves dealing with customers and you'll have a positive attitude to boot. You'll enjoy putting in the effort with your appearance, always looking your best and you'll be happy standing for long periods of time. Obviously, you'll be friendly and approachable, but you'll also be professional and able to quickly think on your feet where needed. You'll love talking to our customers and have great communication skills both written and verbal, and you know the importance of being a team player.

The must-have's

Firstly, you'll need to be at least 20 years of age and have a background in Security. You will need to hold or be able to obtain a COA which involves passing a credit and criminal history check. Our busiest periods at SkyCity are weekends, so availability to work Friday and Saturday nights is essential. It would also help if you had some basic computer skills.
